Recent heavy rains in KwaZulu-Natal have caused significant damage to the office of Inkundla Yezindaba, a community newspaper led by Zinhle Cebekhulu serving Inanda, Ntuzuma, KwaMashu and surrounding areas. Water came through the ceiling, damaging the interior of the premises, and Cebekhulu is currently assessing the full extent of the damage and what will be required to repair and restore the space.
The office serves as the operational base for the publication, and the damage has disrupted day-to-day activities, including the preparation, production and distribution of the newspaper.
Zinhle Cebekhulu says, “As a small community media organisation, we do not have a large financial reserve to absorb an unexpected setback of this nature. Any financial assistance would therefore make a meaningful difference in helping us repair the office, replace or restore anything that has been damaged, and continue serving our community.”
Inkundla Yezindaba serves its communities through the publication, ensuring residents of Inanda, Ntuzuma, KwaMashu and surrounding areas stay informed.
